Are the 'best things' in life really FREE?

"The best things in life are free" statement is so good! It really makes you think and question about all of the things around us that we so easily could or do take for granted that are 'free'. Going to the beach, sitting in the sunshine in your garden or simply having a cuppa with a friend. But when we think about business - can the same be said?

In my opinion, 'free' is rarely free. Although I am by no means suggesting that the exchange of time, goods or even eventual business and money for the 'free' are a bad thing. Instead simply mulling over the 'free' options and considering if they are 'worth it'.

The easiest 'free' resource we have in business and especially in the marketing space is social media. We can all get multiple free accounts to help us promote and showcase our businesses. Yes - you can upgrade and get paid ads, paid accounts and even pay professional to do your social media for you... but is the free version really free? And the answer is of course not!

The account itself mught be free - and brilliant;y accessible on phones, tablets and computers. You can even update and run your social media from pretty much anyehere in the world! The only costs are our time and creativity. But we all know that unless you have a natural flair for social media marketing - it takes time, effort and an on going slog of new ideas, content and engaging with your ideal clients, peers and business relationships to keep the momentum alive and current. You have fractions of a second to grab attention on-line. Then there is the hook to keep the attention.... all before that post - that you lovingly spent time and effort editing on... is scrolled past. The other issue with social media is that each post has a limited time to shine.
